I like it.  Does it hold 5 or 6 rounds?

Abilene

The Man With No Name "Conversion" holds 6 .38 Spcls (and should be carried like any single action - 5 loaded and hammer down on empty chamber).  The gun is essentially a '71-72 Opentop with a Navy-style barrel (same as the original movie gun).

Ya ought to have fun with that one, Mean Bob.

Six, but the way guys here modify things I am hoping to install a belt fed mechanism to hook into an ammo can of 500 rounds.  I hate running out of ammo when I am plinking, after all.

Mean Bob, You'll like this one. I always liked the looks of the 1851 Navy, but wished for one that fired standard ammo. When I came across one of these awhile back, I just had to have one. Unfortunately, very expensive to get it brought into Canada.
But I bought it anyway; then found another Canadian Source for much cheaper; so now I have two.
I have a few Open Tops, but this one has the best sights. Like you, I didn't want to spend a huge pile of money for a lousy snake, so instead of Blondie's gun, we have Tuco's gun!

Ola, Amigo!! And remember, "When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk!"
Right now, I don't have to shoot, just talk.
I don't know how much you know about the Open Top revolvers, or about Uberti threads and screws, but I'll give you some advice.
This happened with both my guns, where the cylinder would bind right up. An easy fix.
Remove the barrel and cylinder, look at the loading gate. There are 2 screws, one on the right side of the frame; this we will ignore. The other screw, much bigger, secures the loading gate to the frame, but faces the front, towards the cylinder. The problem was, this screw would start backing out, and interfering with the rotation of the cylinder. Remove, apply blue loctite, screw back in. You should be good to go.
I noticed something else while dry firing with snap caps. The Uberti Open Tops (and this one) that are chambered for .38, means they are chambered for .38 Special and .38 Long Colt. I read somewhere that the case diameter for the Long Colt was slightly larger than for the Special; therefore the cylinder chambers are a tiny bit larger than Special cases.
So sometimes, when you try to cock the gun when the barrel is above, say a 30 degree rise, the Special cartridges might back out a bit, and interfere with the cylinder. Lower barrel, carry on.
That's all I can think right now; but anytime I play with these beauts, I wanna go find that damn Angel Eyes...

Welcome to the forum!

You are confusing 38 S&W with 38 Colt (and 38 Special). The specs for the 38 Colt and the 38 special are the same except for the length. The 38 S&W is slightly larger in diameter.......

Regards, HH
And congats on the MWNN pistols to both of ya'll!!!

I bit the bullet and got me a pair of these beauties last summer. First time out shot clean. ;D Best looking pistols out there IMHO! You will love it. And all your fellow shooters will want to feel of it. Put some smoke behind it just for good measure. Enjoy

Personally, I think these should be banned and anyone talking about them should be publicly castigated in front of all the readers!

Also dropped in the middle of the Sonora desert and see how pretty your damn pistol looks then!

Aaaand,,,,,,,,, oh sod it, can some kind soul smuggle a couple of them into Fortress Britain for me?????

I got busy the past couple of weeks, so I'm just reading the last couple of posts; great reply Angel Eyes!
It would be great if a pair of these "fell off the transport" for you. You'd have fun with these.
I haven't kept up with your British laws, but I think you can only own Cap and Ball Revolvers?
If you ever find yourself in North America, I'm sure a couple of Bob's would be pleased to let ya try them!
I'm in the Southern Ontario area; unfortunately too close to that idiot anti-gun City of Toronto! I'm not sure where the "mean one" is.
One day we'll be lucky and the City of Toronto will separate from the rest of Canada; hey, you guys want it back?
