Turned the HGCS show in Houston inside out this past weekend, this was all I could talk myself into. Maybe they're horn?

My guess is they are water buffalo.

Hi

That would be my guess, lots of water buffalo in the Philippines.  Doesn't that make them non-authentic??

Just sayin' they look good.

Thank y'all for taking a look and your opinions. Things slow down later on today I might try using a Dremel to test some polish out on 'em to see if some lustre helps(?)

I took a Pietta .45LC with me to the show to size up grips with, these aren't quite "long" enough front-to-rear to use on it. I'll check an Uberti,Hawes etc to see if they look closer on them. I'll also see about putting them up against the Pietta and take pics to use as future reference as to what fits what brand and what won't.

T.......................how ya been?

All the "natural" grips I have seen with decals on the back were made in the 50's and 60's. It would be safe to assume they are for a second or first gen Colt.

Give me a shout brotha!

Hi  be careful doing that.  I tried to polish some buffalo horn knife scales and the felt wheel appeared to melt the horn a little.  Fortunately the scales aren't on the blade yet and I can just sand that part out.  Jantz Supply says you can use a Muslin wheel and rouge to polish  horn, but I'd suggest taking your time...

Just my $0.02

After this morning's coffee it occurred to me that these could be for a Ruger XR3 grip frame as well................

The key to polishing horn is slow speed-no heat.
