Watched the movie and I thought that the holster that Tom Selleck wore (Rafe Covington) to carry his S&W Schofield was a good looking holster.  I copied a frame from the movie showing the holster and mailed it to Paul Combest of Reddog Leather with the words... "can you make this ?"  He responded... as seen below.  He is very professional and does outstanding work when constructing his holsters. The Canvas belt was made by David Carrico of Carrico's Leatherworks.  The canvas belt is a Buffalo Canvas Belt with the cartridge loops measuring 1 and 1/2" from top to bottom.  The loops almost cover completely a 44-40 / 45LC cartridge and the 45-60 cartridge fits very well in these loops.  I asked Paul to make the holsters so that the Schofields (7" barrels) would ride a wee bit higher than what is considered "period correct".  This is what " I " prefer.. to each his own. Selleck in the movie had only rifle cartridges in the belt and carried xtra revolver cartridges in a Civil War Cap Pouch.  I had a CS Cap Pouch that I added to the rig and it fits in nicely.  Pictures of the rig shown below.  Hope you like.

Glad you pokes liked...  I have never used a canvas gun belt before other than a shotgun belt. When I watched the movie I thought maybe the canvas will look good with the leather... at least it looked good in the movie.  I was really impressed with the craftsmanship that Paul at Reddog Leather in making these holsters... IMHO they are the cats meow for the Schofields.  I have a request in with David at Carrico's Leather to make me a Prairie Belt and construct it like the belt that Selleck wore in the movie. The belt that is shown is David's Buffalo Belt which is 3" wide... sooo, to get the belt like Selleck wore it needs to be 2 and 1/2" wide with the buckle attached from the rear bar and not the center bar and the leather portion that goes thru the buckle needs to be longer than norm. But this is what I have at present and it is very comfortable to wear... more comfortable than a leather belt, which surprised me.  Thanks for the compliments I will pass on to David at Carrico's Leather and to Paul at Reddog.  Merry Christmas to all you cowboys...

Tyrel-  Thanks for the compliment---  I have been practicin...  Just have to learn to release the trigger before trying to cock!! LOL these schofields do not work like the colts. That is a hard habit to break, but they do shoot nice.  Hope to see you at the next shoot.. Merry Christmas to you and yours.. wish you a healthy New Year.  See ya soon pard.
