Topic says it all.  Damn yankee weather moved in and messed things up big time.  Oh well,  We'll try again Dec. 15.  Til then keep your powder dry, watch your topknot and save your Confederate money.  Its worth more than the yankee stuff nowadays anyway.

Seriously tho, hope you stay warm and if you got to get out be careful out there.

Cole, Sounds like Kentucky weather. You all stay warm and safe. Tj

We even had to put on a long-sleeved shirt up here in Nebraska . . .

It's not so much the cold, but we don't know how to drive on ice.  I do cause I grew up in the Panhandle, but now that I am older and maybe wiser I choose not to drive on ice.  Kay and I are holed up till Tuesday when this storm goes away.

Tjoe, There is no way to drive on ice. Chains and you may be able to go, very slow. Tj

I ain't worried about my driving.  Its those other IDJETS that don't understand it may be 4 wheel drive but not 4 wheel stop!  Once got rearended while just sitting still !  Looked in the mirror saw this idiot coming way too fast and...BANG!

Like Joe we'll be staying close to home until the roads clear.

I spent a good chunk of my morning with my chainsaw helping out neighbors with fallen tree limbs. Ground looks like we got about 2" of ice.  I've got a 75 year old pecan the stands twice the height of my house.  I've been listening to that poor old timber creek & groan all morning with the weight of the ice. I lost some 3" limbs off my live oak and off my black walnut trees.

Nobody hurt, no great property damage in my neighborhood. but man is this a mess!

The whole southern half of Rockwall county is out of power.  Oncor cannot estimate when they will restore power. We have power, so we may have several house guests tonight.

I spent three years in sunny Minnesota and even married a girl from South Dakota. During my tenure there, I sought out the wisdom of winter storm veterans to garnish better snow and ice driving skills.  I learned a lot about good snow and blizzard driving. When I asked folks up there about tips for driving on ice, they all give the same answer:  "Don't".

No, can't safely drive on ice.
You're right. If it isn't the steering, it's the stopping.

We've missed getting hit with winter moisture so far, but it's coming this Saturday and Sunday.

We lost power at 10 am and it came back on at 1700. Our house is all electric, except the water heater. We built a foreign the fireplace and cooked luncheon the grill on the patio. Victoria loves this cold weather.  I like staying inside and staying warm. It doesn't look like this stuff is not leaving till Monday or Tuesday.

Jim:
It looks like this weather is headed your way.  I hope yall get snow instead of ice.  We were really lucky here West of Fort Worth, still have power.  It is cold and the ice is about 4 inches thick on the road in front of the house, I have not plans to try to get out until Monday.
