I couldn't resist. A like new, with box, dies and brass for $1000!

22" barrel, beautiful!

But I only have 410g bullets available until I buy a 300g mold.

Is anyone shooting bullets this long in an 1876. What are you using for smokeless loads?

Any help would be appreciated.....

Thanks, I spent hours digging through these older posts. Very interesting.

I found the following:

405g 20-1 lead:

23g 5744
26g 4198
24g 4759

I'm looking for a load with Unique and Trail Boss as both of these powders perform superbly in my 38-55 and 45-70 for reduced recoil, sub 300yd loads.

Thanks!

Congratulations on your new 1876.  Great buy, by the way! ;D

What brand is your 1876?  I have used 405 grain, 350 grain, and 300 grain cast bullets in mine.  I usually use BP or one of the Subs, but because I had to use it in an indoor range, I loaded up a couple of boxes with 12 grains of Unique or Trail Boss powders and they did very well at 25 yards.
Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

It's a Uberti. I love Unique for all the old straight wall cases, 45-60, 45-70 and 38-55. Works great in all of them.
