1884 Colt "Peacemaker" ????

Last night I was channel surfing and a shot of an 1873 Colt caught my eye.

It was one of those idiot Pawn shows out of Las Vegas. A fellow wanted to sell this revolver and the Pawn shop owner called in an "expert" to examine it.

He declared it an 1884 Colt.......   What is an 1884 Colt Peacemaker

The fellow wanted $5000 and was offered $1500........Thank God he walked. that revolver was in excellent shape and worth much more than $1500

Not sure what you are asking.  The SAA is/was known as the Peacemaker and that one was made in 1884.

I've seen several SAA's on Pawn Stars.  Was that one the nickle-plated gun with black rubber grips?  If so, their limpbrain "expert" (different than their usual gun expert) noted that the number on the loading gate was different than the s/n so that part "must have been replaced", reducing the value.  He apparently did not know that loading gate numbers are assembly numbers and don't match the s/n.

I saw the episode of Pawn Stars the op is referring to.  I is an 1884 Colt SAA (Peacemaker) with Ivory, steer head grips.  No finish left on the gun from what I could see.  The owner was trying to tie the gun to one of the people involved in the Johnson county war.  The provenance was fair at best.  He was offered $1500 for the gun because the Pawn guys need to turn around and sell the gun to make a profit.

I've seen the show a few times.... seen some of their so called "Experts" make mistakes.
