I hear you Del.... what is worst is they'll use an Impact Wrench, and most (99%) ying yangs pour the crank to them....
If your lucky, they don't strip the lugs.
Another issue is the dissimilar, metals heat and cool at different rates and this causes loosing....  :o
We don't have the road salt issue here but we do have salt spray on the coast  :-\

Alum. heads & steel Spark plug threads is another, fine how do you do  ::)

They city's 'leaders' cut some positions so they'd have more of the producers' money to waste on downtown projects. The 24 hour tire 'n battery guy went the way of the dinosaur. We had ta change tires - with our good clothes on – with the factory stuff what came with the cars. The day crew garage folks would hit the lugs with impact wrenches 'n twist 'em down so tight ya couldn't get a lug nut off with the wrenches supplied by the manufacturers.

I got 'n kept me some Fix-A-Flat. Square mile wise Norfolk ain't all that big 'n that'd get me back to the office or the garage 'n the tire monkeys hated the stuff. Didn't much care what they liked or didn't like. Myownself didn't like changin' tires.

I myself always used a torque wrench to tighten lugs on any vehicle I worked on.some of the imports only get tightened to 60Lb/ft and it is too easy to break them using an air gun. Taking them off is a different matter... ;D ;D ;D

no sign of Del yet this morning - ya don't 'spose he's still trying to get that tire off :o

I've never had too much trouble getting the lug nuts off, but getting the spare down from the under the box hanger winch thingy is another matter.  Spare rides in the box now.

Texas Lawdog

I bought a full size spare at the salvage yard for just that reason. I have a lockable bed cover, so I keep the extra tire back there. Thanks for the Cawffee this morning. It is rainy and the low 60s.

Took a floor jack, a 1/2 breaker bar with a truckers cheater bar, two cordless drills, 2 hammers, channel-locks, other pliers, chistles, punches, and end mill and a big crow bar, and a 4 ton come along and a 1 ton Dodge pick-up, non-dually type.  Maybe a couple other things I forgot. ::)

You'd had a domaflotchy 'n a whatchamacallit, made from Unobtainum, the other stuff wouldn't been needed.

This is my little brother you realize, if the 5 hp air compressor hadn't been broke we'd of had that also, and an air chistle.  Decided the torch was too dangerous, despite or because of the close proximity of the fire station. ;D

We drilled around the rounded lug nut and chistled/punched/drilled/end-milled engough of it out we got it to finally come off and only pulled the car maybe 2 feet sideways.   ;D

I have an extra tire/wheel for both of my trucks, so it is easier to change out. I also carry a small floor Jack as well.

Could be why they tell ya to rotate the tires every 5,000 miles now. Not so much for the tires, but so's you can keep the lug nuts from chemically welding to the wheels. Ran into that with the Focus my SIL had. By the time the wheel came off, had to have another one($$) ::) >:(

Had to take the Hamster-mobile to the tire place today, Miz nail magnet picked up another one. Right front this time, luckily, it wasn't any further to the outer edge than it was. Might've had to replace the tire otherwise, looked like a type of carpet tack. ::) :-\

Had a Dentist appointment after that. Get to keep'em longer ::) :o

43 and dark now. Wife was off due to some muscle problems, Doc has her off until Thursday and on relaxers and pain killers. No heavy lifting, at least she gets paid for it :-\

Can't beat the price for some heavy duty posts. I'm not familiar with electrobraid - will it be hot, or just a tough wire fence?

It is actually copper wire woven into a nylon rope. You electrify it and it keeps the horses in, it also provides a flexible fence line in case they get spooked and run into it.

Del, no wonder you had so much trouble, you forgot the kitchen sink.

That really looked like a major problem in removing the lugnut and wheel.

Thanks for the Cawffee and grub this morning, LIT. The weather is rainy and damp. The City council elections are today. I don't have a good idea of whom to vote for.
