Does anyone know the status of the ultra light bullets that was being produced by AJ right before he closed shop?  If I remember correctly these were well under 120grs and hollow based to the point of being somewhat akin to a lead sabot.  I have a friend who has just volunteered to do the casting for me IF I can find a source for the molds.

A J had a winner!!!
The actual "as cast" weight is 130 Gr +\-  the bullet is also wonderfully accurate.  IIRC, A J had several moulds made, but I don't know who else may have bought em.  Twernt cheap.
I have a few left for "special" matches.  I also wish someone would pick up making those bullets.

At one time AJ gave me the name of the mold maker for that bullet.  Since I was not actually interested in casting  the information was forgotten.  He did tell me that the process was low yield and very slow output which accounted for the seemingly high price.  My local buddy has allowed that if I would obtaim the mold and the lead he wuold do the rest on a two pounds lead for one pound bullets ratio.  Have not checked lead prices or availability in these parts but doubt I could beat his offer AND besides I usually end up swapping stuff and jobs out with him all the time anyhows!!!  I was thinking that he might have sold the molds with the brass source but inquires over on the WIRE would indicate not so.

They were made by Old West molds. So Slowhand, your friend is going to make 50 bullets for 2 lbs of lead? At the current price of about a buck a pound that ain't bad for you, that is 250 bullets for 10 bucks. I sure wouldn't do that, must be a good friend!

Hey!! Slim!!!
How are ya??  I'm gonna be ordering bullets soon.  Although this time it'll be Round Ball.  I've switched to Cap Guns.  Too much FUN!!

Anyway, you wouldn't happen to have one of the moulds for AJ's "Barnstormer" would ya??  Increadable bullet with BP or Sub in the Cowboy 45 Special case.  Not real shabby with a pinch of smokeless either.  Wish I had some more  ::) ::) ::)

That reminds me, I bought a 45 Collar Button Mould in a rush of blood on a group buy on Cast Boolits (an impulsive act that I performed many times, :(  ).

I never got around to using it. I must dig it out and have a play with it. From memory it had serious lube grooves and should work well with BP.
All my cowboy gun's calibres start with a 4! It's gotta be big bore and whomp some!

Thanks for that information Springfield, checking that lead (pun) should make a great project for when I return from GA, after the first of the year.  My pard GP Bear IS a great friend of many years and often claims I would wear my hat backwards if he wasn't around to keep it straight!  Though I always feel like I am more often on the receiving end, we are always trading one-ups.

A little heavier than 130 grains, the EPP-UG may satisfy your needs.  They weigh in between 145 - 150 grains.  Here's a photo of some loaded in Cowboy Special brass.  There's a lube sized one and two as cast.  The big feller in the background is the DD 45-70 500.  Don't know what it's doing there.

I think Slim has a mold and I have new 6 cavity molds in stock.

I have two of these molds and love the boolit. I used it in my ROA's and the 45 special brass. Don't remember if I used it in 45 Colt but I bet it would work for cas distances.

Howdy Mason,

Yup, the EPP-UG bullet can be loaded in 45 Colt brass, but a full charge of FFFg under it will push it over SASS maximum velocity from a 7½" barrel gun.  I know this cuz that's what it does from my 7½" ROAs with Kirst Konverter cylinders.  Not much recoil though and accuracy is good to 50 yards and maybe more with better eyes.

Where does the "45 SLIM" fit into the mix. They drop at 170g with 20-1 lead. Perfect for Black Powder with Cowboy 45 Special brass. Very little recoil but you can still hear them sing the steel.

The 45Slim 170 grain Big Lube®LLC bullets work great in revolvers, but may have feeding questions with lever rifles.  I like them in my ROAs with Kirst Konverter cylinders and loaded in 45 Colt brass.  Plenty of KD power, smoke and flames.  Recoil is very manageable.
