I recently talked to a dealer who had Armi Sport Spencer Rifles and Carbines listed for sale.  The rifle had "discontinued" stated in the product availability.  When I asked them about this, I was told that rifle production has been discontinued and is no longer available, but they "still make the carbines."  Does anyone know if this is true?
Thanks,

Just received this from Chiappa:

Dear Andrew,

Thank you for your interest in Chiappa Firearms!  We have been manufacturing the Spencer Rifles and Carbines for several years now, and do not intend on discontinuing them.   They are currently available from select distributors.

Wonder if your dealer was not one of the "select distributors"?

I will defer to Sean for this, but there was a big "dust up" if I recall over the Armisport Spencer rifle having wrongly spaced rifle bands that prevented it from being permitted by NSSA I believe. Armisport did not want to change it either saying something about having a bunch of pre-cut stocks already made. I never heard anything more about it.  ???

I am sure the carbine sling bar and staple also didn't help sales any more than the Spencer cutoff on top. I do, however, see that at the Buffalo Arms website, the rifle featured there (though now discontinued) is minus the sling bar feature but it still has the wider Spencer cutoff feature not introduced until 1868. Don't get me wrong, I prefer the Spencer cutoff to the Stabler device any day.

i JUST GOT MINE ABOUT THREE days ago. it's beautiful. I had to pour bullets first. now i"m looking for loading for it. the one I was loading for was 150+ years old and I had to use pyrodex, 777 or BP(ain;t no bp so the other two, and they are a bitch to clean the barrels.
