Since he forgot about National Single shot rifle Day the we both declared, this means he forgot about the holiday I proclaimed, National Toilet Paper Day, a day making fun of all other silly National ???? Days and more important it is a day for us all to clean up our act. ;D

People like me are the reason people like you have the right to bitch about people like me.

Ok how about "wipe our butts." ::)  Do you realize that toilet paper dates to the 1860's but was called sanitary tissue, it came folded till the 1880's when it was put on a roll.  One must realize this is one of the greatest inventions of all time, toilet paper accually dates to before the Sears and Wards catalog. ;D

Fact is one of my favorite movie lines of all times is from "You Know My Name" withs Sam Elliot starring as Bill Tihlman.   When Bill brings in a bunch of bad guys behind his horse tied to a rope the line is, "Bill, this is the 20th century, we even have crapping paper on a roll."

Yep a great boon to mankind, can you imagine the trots before it's invention. :P :P :P :P :P :P

And Slim forgot the holiday, I had it marked also, but my wife moved the computor while I was in the hospital and lost my calender. ??? ??? ???

Hmmm. And I always thought a Sears calaog was the first "ready made".

Delmonico

Nope just another one of those misconceptions about history that is continuly repeated by those who have not done any serious research. ;D

Kinda like the idea that red union suits were the men's underwear of the latter half of the 19th century, the union suit came out in the very late 1890's along with Cornflakes and Campbell's soup. ;D

Well doing research is like following outlaws, you follow every trail that might lead to what you want, no matter how faint. ;D  These trails often do not lead to what you are looking for but other items. ::)  These items are often strange side issues to what you are looking for. :o

The toilet paper did not surprise me as much a the fact you could order Wedgewood dining china and a Water Closet to match. ::)  But with the strage items folks want to today sometimes to impress their friends it should come as no surprise.

But what did folks in Europe use before corn was brought from America? ;D

Too valuble, used cloth was the only source of paper and paper was very expensive. ;D

Pea Pods, come on Slim, might they be a little small. ;D ;D ;D

It is so simple, part of a custom leadin' out of it still exists today. ;D
