Hi Pards,
I found this small anvil at a garage sale. Looks like it is a leather tool or could be used as such. I figured out the "dumb" end, but not the other end with the small post. Thought it might be used to set rivets some how. The small tit is about an 1/8 in dia. And about 1/4 " tall. It is also spring loaded moving up and down. The screw on the side does not lock the tit from moving, said screw is like a set screw for the cylinder which also moves vertically a little bit. I also figured the cut out on the dumb side must serve some purpose .
It only cost me a dollar, but I would like to get the most from it that I can. Also I am just really curious about the thing. Thanks mucho for any info--BobbyF

It looks like it is part of a two piece Rivet and or snap setter. It looks like you have the bottom half and have only the bottom die. You might go over to Leatherworker.net and PM Bruce Johnson he deals in vintage leather tools and might recognize it. Also if you don't get your answer here post it in the leather tool forum on leatherworker.net.
