I have a 3rd model Merwin Hulbert. I am having some problems with the cylinder hand not staying in position. Have others had this problem? Does it need a spring that is not present. Other than this little problem the revolver is in great shape for it's age except for the external appearance.

RedGreen, I have rebuilt 2 MH's in my kitchen gunsmithing career. Perhaps I can be of help. I've done both the open top Frontier model 1 and a folding hammer 32, however, it's been a while and some pics of what parts you have would help jog my memory. Send me an email or PM. Below is a pic of an original hand and one I made to replace it.

Hi,

I had a local gunsmith make me a new hand as mine was broken. The spring was alright and did not look like it was to difficult to copy. if I can be of help shoot me a note. I just joined the forum and am trying to sell a repo bolt release button. This one has a small hole in the stem, some buttons were threaded. This gunsmith local, Cape Cod, and is very reasonable.

Aldo35,
