I am purchasing a pair of used 5 1/2" Opentops with navy grips and plan on changing the navy grips out to army grips. Would anyone have a couple of complete grips sets (ie grip frame, grips and trigger guard) from a change over that they would part with?
I would trade but these were originally purchased from Traditional Effects and tuned by Bob Taylor and have his medallions in the original wood grips. So I would like to keep them just in case I ever sell them and the new owner wants them.

Will the blued steel army back strap and army grips work with the brass navy trigger guard?

No.  Think about it.  The Navy grip is shorter.  The Army back strap would be hanging in the air.

That's what I thought also, when I saw a grip set on Numrich for OT's or R&M's that was listed with a brass trigger guard and blued back strap. So figured I'd ask.

The Army grips can be had with both a steel and a brass triggerguard (larger of course than the Navy triggerguard).  Percussion 1860's generally have the brass triggerguard.

Now that I have these in hand I believe I'm going to shoot them with the navy grips to see how I like them. If I want to try army grips I can borrow a pair off my 1860 R&M's or 1860 Armies.
