What kind of  rear site do you use/prefer for your main match rifle?  I used to have a full buckhorn but my newest rifle has the rear site cut down flat.  I have found that with the rear site cut down like this there is much more forgiveness there and the front site just literally pops into place very quickly.

Mine too are mostly flat  - maybe with a little swoop upward.
I don't like the full BH.

When I was using my Marlin in put a full buckhorn on it and used it like a ghost-ring. I'm using a Henry mainly now. It has the factory sight on it.

Semi and full buckhorn rear sights is what I prefer. Flat top sights make it harder for these middle-age  eyes to find the target.

Hy Camille,
for me the best is a full buckhorn.I tried it on a Island girl rifle and it'as perfect for me!!!!  The worst part is I cannot mount it in my '66 carabine.............. :(

I used Gunny Sacketts idea, I put a 1874 Sharps Ladder Sight, full buckhorn on my 66, I get a awesome sight picture with it....  It does take a competent gunsmith to tap the barrel to install the sight though...
