Question. Will there be some downtime for a little more casual range exercise? I have a few rifles that haven't been played with much yet, and might enjoy the outing. (New England Westinghouse and Remington M91s).
If so I will bring them.
Thanks and see you Fri AM.

Bring em. We always find time for that. Last year I got to shoot a Martini-Henry & a broom handle Mauser, both for the first time.

pony express

DM, should be plenty of time for extra curricular shooting, I think last year we had 3 hours or more between the morning stage and afternoon one, but then we didn't have 30+ shooters then.

Edit: Dalton, is you're son coming along? I'll have my family there, and if I remember correctly, he's maybe a couple months older than Alyssa, 5 in August.

River City John

Looks like Friday night is the only real chance of rain, at 50%.

I'm not going to trust the 7.5mm Swiss revolver to take down targets reliably, so will bring my '58 Remington Navy with R&D cylinder as a back-up just in case.

Also not sure about the new tent. May just bring the trusty lean-to and an extra rain poncho.

See you Thursday.

Hey Jerry, shift me over to Staff Officer for the EoE as well,  I've been wanting to try that, see If my old DA revolver can keep up with yer heathen self shucker.

Plenty of time for Happy fire.  Folks will get the chance to shoot things they may have never handled before.

Grant, I'm gonna bring that No 2 I stole so's you can look at it.   ;D
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

Dalton Masterson

Great! I will throw some of the neglected arms in to bring along for Happy Fire...

Pony, Wesley (Justin Time/Pooper Trooper) might be down sometime during the weekend, but won't be there for the duration.

Lonnie and I will be in Friday morning, hopefully early. ;)

Justin Time....I wondered what you'd call him now, since he probably wouldn't appreciate Pooper Trooper any more. He must be a fan of the same cartoon as Alyssa...

Dalton Masterson

Nope, I don't think he has seen that cartoon yet. He liked the name, and we kind of have him heading towards a Pony Express rider persona.
I don't think we have ever let him know his Pooper Trooper name yet. Maybe on graduation day... ;)

:-[ I've been thinking that with the number of competitors we have this year I'd better not shoot 2 classes like I usually do. And since Grant has been talking trash about me shooting smokeless so I don't have to compete head to head with him ;) I'm planning on shooting a sooty trapdoor and Schofield. The problem is that I really enjoy shooting my Krag and my S&W. So the only solution I can think of is to shoot them as a really early entry in the EEM. Early as in about 1901, which also gives me an excuse to wear my new uniform.  :) The problem with that is I won't get to shoot my 1911  :'(

We'll shoot the EEM as soon as we can in the morning Probably around 9:30 as we'll have a lot of folks who have never shot here before and will want to make sure we have time to go over the rules of the skirmish format. We'll shoot till we get done (might have to break for lunch) then start sighting and shooting the long range match. We probably won't have quite as much "happy time" as most DOMM's with the increased participation and the fact that we'll be shooting 4 stages instead of 3. (It is the GRAND muster after all) But we'll try to see to it that folks have time for show and tell and such.

Alrighty. That gives me a time to shoot for. If we leave here at 7, we should be there in good time.

Oh sure .... You wait until I regress to shooting a Snider-Enfield before you offer to go "head to head" ....  You do realize that, to compare ballistically, your  trapdoor needs to be in .58 Musket .... or in any event no more "modern" than a .50-70 .....    :-\

Garry and I have camped on the outskirts of Rapid City, South Dakota .... Will complete our sweep into Nebraska on the morrow, arriving relatively late in the day .... But hopefully early enough to  visit at the Muster site before retiring to the British  barracks for the night.

Famous last words, eh?   ::)

Just made it home and catching up on e-mail and such .....  Hope folks start posting some photos .... it looks like this is the only one I took at the Muster!   :-[

Had a great time going, at the Muster, and returning home .... Garry was a most pleasant traveling companion, and we seemed to have many interests in common .....

I do have some on the GAF Facebook page as I can post right from my phone. Otherwise I have to resize them to do it here. I will get some posted after my Cody trip.
