Hopefully this is early enough that everybody can put in for time off now and get it.

I will be hosting the 2014 Department of Missouri Muster International Grand Muster, June 27th, 28th & 29th, in my pasture. The date this coming year is a little earlier than we normally hold the Department Muster in hopes of a little cooler weather. The average high temperature in this area on June 27th is 84 degrees

This Muster will be open to anyone in the GAF. If not currently a member I can help you register. (Membership in the GAF is free and easy) By using Google Earth and going to  41°40'16.24"N Latitude and  99°19'42.54"W Longitude you can see the Dept. Muster site. Registration forms will be available on the dispatches page of the Grand Army's Web site. Particpation will be limited to 35 shooters. Registration is $75,  an extra Sat. eve. banquet ticked is $15. Meals will be available on site from Delmonico. Those wishing to attend but not compete may do so without registration fee, but be sure to pay the meal fee if you plan to eat with us.

The planned activities include: a 3 stage GAF steel target main match, a 300 yd paper target long range match and a GAF Expansion Era Match. While 3 stages for the main match doesn't sound like much these three stages will be of the skirmish format and will feature about 20 knock down targets per stage. Round counts will be dependent on the number of times the shooter needs to shoot at each target to get it to fall. 100 rounds at least would be a good plan. One stage will feature a Gatling gun.(ammunition provided) This is a match that, as one participant said, truly needs to be experienced to be fully appreciated.

This muster will be a primative camping event. I will have a tent city and have tentage for about 10 individuals if you don't have your own. We should be easily able to get photos without anything modern in them. We should have plenty of time to sit around the campfire and visit.

Shooters will be able to sight in their rifles on Friday evening. When the actual long range match is held on Saturday it will be shot from the shooters choice of positions from the ground. The idea behind this is that it will be more of a real world type of match.

I've attached a FAQ sheet and a suggested equipment list below.

FYI gentlemen (and Delmonico) he calls it a pasture, but there is a permanent "fort"/shooting platform at the campsite, along with a shower and stock tank, with piped in running water.  A log faced outhouse is also installed.  Each Skirmish run takes place in its own ravine, with enough targets and props for each scenario allready installed.   Transport, either a Utility vehicle or a pickup, is readily available for those not wishing to drive the path out to the shooting area.  (My car stays at the farmhouse.)  The camp area is high in the Nebraska sandhills, with a spectacular view, often including thunderstorms far off over South Dakota.

Not too mention the education my son has recieved via the campfire stories of various Squids, Jarheads, Grunts and Wingwipers.  (the Nebraska Highway Patrol chimes in now and then as well . . .)

Did I mention there's a shower on site?

Oh, and there's a shower . . .

And Jerry will re-rig said shower so that next year all or most of the water will stay inside the shower stall  rather than end up in South Dakota like it did at times this year.

The stock tank is great to turn a palm leaf hat into a cowboy swamp cooler.

We also have hand washing facilities right next to the shower with mirrors for those who may want to shave or get a bathroom mirror picture for their Facebook account.

Anyone planning on coming out, we should tell you that if you have a telescope you need to bring it, the chance to get that far away from any major light polution is very rare.

If it don't work right type Sargent Nebraska into the search and line the red arrow up in the center and bring it up.  A newer site and seems to have a glitch now and then.

The night sky is indeed a treat!  Seems we always spend some time after sundown looking for satillites.  The flash they can make when the rotation catchs the sun just right is a shock the first time you see it!  Like being back at sea for me.

It just keeps getting better and better.....

Maybe we can use it on "The Moro"? Or maybe make a bunch of "Moros" to mow down!

Folks don't know what they miss by not coming, I've got a couple three new ideas from on my end.

I modified the Moro last week so that it can be used as a dinger. That way you can shoot it multiple times as it attacks you or you can still use it the we did this year, as a knock down. It's funny, as a dinger you can actually stop it's advance with a 1911... until you empty the magazine anyway.  :o

I know. :-\

I know I'm prejudiced, but if I could only attend one match per year this one would be it and I attend some really outstanding matches; the GAF Grand Muster and the AZSA World Championships come to mind. The camaraderie, the food, the format; I think it's worth the work I put in. I just wish I could share it with more people.

I agree. This is the best match of any type I ave ever attended. Others need to experience it as well.

Col. Pitsptr,

Need to know, will the Gatling be shot as a side match on Friday, or will it appear in one of the main stages Saturday and Sunday?

If side match, I'll need to start campaigning now (read, bugging my Manager) for additional time absent in June.

Why don't you "start campaigning" now anyway ;)

Actually right now I'm thinking about using it to defend Fort Scotsman.

Jerry does put on a good get together and Del's food is outstanding. Seeing old friends and meeting new ones is great as well.

I'm thinking about bringing up a small water smoker next year, plus some good fruit wood.  The smoker ain't 100% correct looking but the methods are and the food is very good.

I'm playing with rubs, I ain't done this in years, wife sure likes it.  Leftovers would be good in red flannel hash.

Sounds like a hoot!!

Investigated Airfares on SWA to Omaha.  Looks like a shade under $450 from Phoenix, non-stop early bird check-in guaranteeing aisle seat.  Fly in Thursday land Omaha 2ish, Fly out Monday PM 3ish.

What time do festivities start on Friday?

I can probably stay at Offut AFB Guest house Thursday and Sunday Nights

We shall see what things look like after the first of the year.  I may even be able to Car Pool with Bow View Haymaker if I can get sufficient time off to make the drive.
