Howdy all, I ended up with a recent vintage SS 6" revolver as a deal sweetener on a recent trade. I'm kinda thinking about keeping the little thing, its a .17 cal HMR. What I'm considering is a super nice western "styled" holster that is non-specific to any time period. But, i'm needing ideas because i'm not very well versed in styling as you fine Folks. Can y'all pitch ideas my way??

So fire away!

Thanks, Bro Tim

You just need to find a leathersmith you'll make a holster to take your gun. If it was mine I'd get a Mexican Loop over type with double loops on it. I like mine real plain.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

Its a taurus tracker

That RED dot will have to go!

It came in this hideous nylon leg strap belt holster

I like the idea of the double loop mexican holster. I've never built one before but i'm sure it would be any harder than any the others. I'm 99% sure I'm gonna order a new cobra class 4 this week. I wanna have the patterns ready when it gets here.

An idea you may or may not like, not a western style tho'. Here's one I made for the same model Taurus 17.  Has a belt loop on the back with a slight forward cant. The Taurus Tracker 17 is a great little shooter.

Oh I really like how you used what I think is a seeder past the welt top and bottom. It fools the eye in to thinking the stitching continues around. Neat trick. You did a good job, I like the hoof print too.

Thanks tim, yes, it is a seeder.  Be sure and show what you decide on when you're finished.

I'd leave the Red Dot on it . . . just make the bucket super big!  Of course, folks might look at you a little funny?   ;D

Let us know what you come up with . . . . a Mexican loop would look nice though . . .   :)

I suppose I could make a mexican loop holster and and make a slot cutout to accommodate the RED dot. It would have to be drawn a little straighter up I would imagine. Me oh me, choices choices.

Make one sewn up the front. Make a good strap to come across the top of the hammer. And the red dot can stay.

Thats even a better idea. A mexican loop sewn up the front sounds like a smart solution to me.

Thanks red cent.
