Made by W. Wheeler in St. Joseph, MO. Seems like I have seen that name before. Interesting decorative row of what appears to be brass grommets. Never seen that before. I really like the design on the front:

Many thanks for posting this. This is a fine old Holster. I also went through the rest of the website. There are some very interesting firearms for sale. A bit out of my price range but lots of fun to look at.
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

Very cool! The holster and the gun. The holster also appears to be lined and it has a very large belt loop, probably so it would slide on a cartridge belt.

That's a beautiful holster with that Colt. The design would be fun to do. It looks like the outer layer has grommets in it that allow you to see the lining. Notice the star is upside down. Was that an oops? Most interesting. Thanks for the link.

I thought about that as well. Perhaps he wanted to correlate the direction of the barrel with the star(?).  ???

I like this one better, but I still cannot discern what the decoration is.  ??? Notice what appears to be a reinforcement to the top rear:

He was probably halfway through the bottle of Old Overholt by the time he started on the star. ;D

That's another cool holster, Kid.

Maybe they didn't think the star direction mattered. If you look at old flags like original Confederate Battle Flags the stars are on at different directions. They are not all necessarily pointed the same way.

It does seem to look perfectly upside down though.

By the way, anyone catch the 1860 with the notched grips? There's some historical provenance for you.

I took another look, Santee. Couldn't find that. Sounds interesting.

Of course! Duh.

Thanks for that. I think I'm still a little rummy from the surgery meds.
