Wondering if any of you with Uberti Model 1876 rifles in .45-60 or .45-75 have slugged your barrels, What land a groove diameteres did you get?

You can use a RB for a muzzle loader to slug your barrel. just take one that is oversized and roll it between two pieces of metal until it will almost fit in your barrel. Tap it down thru the barrel, I use a cleaning rod with a jag attached. Very easy to measure when it drops out. I use a RB because they are very soft lead and easier to tap thru the barrel. WM

Wildman, I bought a Uberti NWMP online yesterday, and won't have it for a week or so. That's why I was wondering of others had slugged their barrels.

I recently acquired a Uberti 1876 (DGW) in .45-60.  The barrel specs call for a .450 bore with .003 deep rifling that would yield a groove diameter of .456.  After slugging my barrel I got a bore diameter of .450, which is as close as I can measure with a caliper.  I measured the groove diameter 3 times across the 3 sets of opposing groves with a micrometer and got readings of .4575, .4577 and .4578.  The groove depth is probably closer to .004 than .003.

Haven't gotten around to slugging my bore (hitting steel kinda hurts) but I shoot .459 bullets out of my Uberti .45-75 and they are extremely accurate, no leading, cleans easy.
