A friend of mine has been into all things World War 1 since before it was cool.  That's what got him into making World War 1 reproductions as Prairie Flower Leather Company.  He said it's a great museum, too.  (I think they sell his helmets in the gift shop there.)

Hi

I've been through the Museum a couple of times.

It's a great Museum by any standard.  I don't remember seeing any of Harry's stuff.  Go across the street and see the .45 slugs still in the Marble at the train station.  It's the scene of the KC Massacre where Jelly Nash was killed.

Guess I didn't know about that one.  We didn't have time to check out Union Station.  But I wanted to.

Sorry, I was wrong about the helmets.  They didn't feel there was enough profit margin in them.  (You wouldn't believe what the desired margin is!)  He said it's a GREAT museum, too!

Did some volunteer work there for a couple months.  What they have on display is only a small part of the museum.  The archives and non-viewable items are fantastic.  They really try to rotate some things so there is something new most months.  They may have some items from Harry Truman's service but I hae never heard of them.  Since the Truman home and presidential library is right up the road in Independence, MO, I think that's where any remaining WWI items would be.

BTW, the home and museum are also worth a visit.

Hi

If you're back through, stop by.  What probably happened is really hilarious in some ways.  I read "The Union Station Massacre: The Original Sin of J. Edgar Hoover's FBI" by Unger.  Apparently Nash was shot by the deputy in the back seat who was "unfamiliar" with his new semi-automatic shotgun.  Other people were shot and killed by Nash's "rescuers".

Union station is both a museum, and a sort of kid's science fair.  You may not want to see the whole thing.  They also have a nice steak restaurant there.
