Hi, guys...

Just finished up a new project for my upcoming book and thought you might like a peek at it.  This is a typical 19th-century shaving box.

It's made entirely of walnut that a friend harvested on his property, which I then milled down to stock of the appropriate thicknesses.  The main box, lid and bottom are all 3/8", while the dividers on the inside are 3/16".  The box measures 7" x 9", and stands about 3" high.  All hardware and fittings are solid brass (not plated), and the finish is period-correct shellac.

Thanks for looking.

OH MAN that is bueatiful!!There was a guy about a year ago that harvested some black walnut from his trees as it was being cleared for homes, sure wish i could have got me some of it.They were about 5-6 feet high tree bottom graphs,i think he left the root stock becuase every year there are alot of pups that come up.

Man do i have a shavin mug fer you..I had a small display of shaving stuff i got from a second hand store, the mug has a dish at the top with holes, then another dish below that for a razor i guess, gold trim with flowers on it,might be 1800s,it would sure look nice in that kit. :)Darn nice work!

I want one :-\ ;D I'd put my old 38 breaktop in that :)

I will no longer respond to the rants of the small minded that want to sling mud rather than discuss in an adult manner.
