Gentlemen,
I'm looking at an 1841 from Armi Sport.  How is the quality on these?  Any soft parts or other issues?

I could be wrong, but:  I think Armi Sport became Chiappa.

I have a Model 92 take-down, short rife by Chiappa, and it is sweet.

Armi Sport  became Euroarms, which when they went out of business (Owner was tired, and wanted to retire) they're assets were bought by Pedersoli, Who raised the prices.

How was the quality of their percussion rifles?  I'm told Euroarms had soft internals.  Did Armi Sport suffer from the same problems?

Blair,
I'll e-mail you in a bit, but do we KNOW the Pedersoli rifles are really better?  I'm not doubting you in any way, and my thought would be they're very nice judging by a cartridge Sharps I once owned.  Thanks!

I have an 1853 Enfield 3 band .58 Rifle Musket made by Armi Sports. I bought it in 1995 when I got involved in re-enacting, and I cant honestly say how many times it has been shot with blanks. I do know that I have fired 300 plus minie ball loads with the rifle.

Just a few days ago, I shot 30 full power loads and I am going out again today for some shooting with minie balls. My rifle definately does not have any soft metal in the lock work or anywhere else. Trigger and sear, flat springs, etc. have never given me any trouble.

The rifle groups 5 shots into 2 inches @ 50 yards and 5 shots into 4 inches @ 100 yards from the bench with a 565 minie. My mold throws a minie at .577", and my bore is slighltly oversize at .582" so with a slighlty larger mold, the groups would be better. I am going to send the barrel away for a reline, get the barrel and the minies within .001-.002" of each other in windage, and she should really tighten up the groups.

Also, my stock is full glass bedded.

Thank you!  That's helpful!

You may be thinking of another company.  There were several Italian companies with "Armi" in their name.  Like Books O'Toole said, Armi-Sport changed their name to Chiappa (see http://www.chiappafirearms.com/ ).  They make decent guns.  Cimarron imported both Armi-Sport and Pedersoli Sharps.  Armi-Sport uses button rifling, Pedersoli uses cut rifling.  The Pedersoli barrels are really nice.  And as mentioned, you pay more for them.
