I picked up the OT's today and I must admit I was a bit surprised by their size.  I didn't realize they were on the Navy frame, so they are "cute" but handle very nicely and even nicer was the fact that Cimmarron sent consecutively numbered guns.  Now to try them out. :o

Ok, cleaned my new Navy Open Tops and had to dirty them up.  I now know what they meant when they said, "The buck and roar of a 44."  One should not shoot BP at twilight.  Right out of the box these seem pretty good.  Cocking effort and trigger pull is a little stronger than my C&B Navy, but they're new.

Can I now join STORM?

Pards,

I'd like to join STORM too.  I have shot 60's for well over 30+ years starting with one I purchased for DGWs, a Uberti.  I have continued to shoot 51's and and Pocket Navies for sides.  Just recently won my cat. at the Blue Ridge Roundup in Frontiersman with a nice pair of 60's that are the fully fluted models.  These pitols have never failed me, I shoot Ubertis and Piettas both and love to make the smoke.  It's got to where I have more Open Topens than I do single actions.

Please sign me up,

Thanks,

Be-A-triss Bandit

Howdy,
I have consecutive Cimarron Navy frame Open Tops in 44 Colt.  Love shooting them!  Their innaugural CAS debut will be in two weeks.  Been workin' on the 44 Colt in 44 Special rifle problem like a lot of you.
My 44 Special 92 doesn't like to feed 44 Colt as the smallish rims jam in the slots in the rails sometimes.  Okee dokee, most of the time and I know I need a '66 or Henry.  To fix the "problem" I  simply trim 44 Special cases to 1.09" - 1.1" 44 Colt length.  Load using 44 Colt data of course, and seat the bullet to 44 Special length.  I tailor the load to the OTs, the rifle has a rear site to adjust.  Just don't forget these are 44 Colt length cases appropriate for 44 Colt, not Special loads.  I keep 'em mild.
One other caveate, 1860 conversions with rebated cylinder/frame probably won't accept 44 Special rims.  That's what Cimmaron told me;  That's why the "new" 44 Colt has the small diameter rim.  44 Special/44 Mag cases wouldn't fit in the rebated cylinder without skipping chambers.  One I tried sure wouldn't.  They also told me that the 45 Colt OTs didn't pass proof.  Not that I wanted a 45 Colt.
I'd like to ask questions so want to join STORM.  Or do I need to shoot my OTs at a match first?
Thanks
BB

Grapeshot

I just picked up a 1872 Open Top in .44 Special and plan to shoot .44 Colt out of it.  Right now I'm emptying my .44 Russian Brass through it.  Another 200 .44 Russians and I'm going to use them with APP or 777.
Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

Howdy folks,
        I just recieved the pair of Taylor's '72 opentops.They're
downright fantastic looking and reasonably smooth otb.I
changed the orig order from 4- 3/4" 45lc to 7 -1/2"
44spl. cause the 45's were taking too long to get here. Damn
funny I've gone from C&B 44 Navy's(70's) to 45lc's (80's/90's)now
back to 44 Navy's. Y'all need another member??

I would like to join STORM. I just picked up a Taylors 1851 Richards-Mason Navy in .38 special and had a chance to shoot it yesterday

It handles and shoots great in addition to to looking good also.
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself
