Two items:

1) Powder, Inc. Is advertising new Jamison brass available for the .45-60 again.

2) Wrote to Starline Brass and asked if they would consider making brass for the 1876 cartridges and they wrote a nice note saying they have been trying to gear up for that for the last few years but have been too buried to do so.  They did indicate it was definitely in the cards though.

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

I was considering the purchae of a '76 in .45-60. Looking into the brass situation, I found it to be a difficult thing to locate. Good luck with getting any. I was informed that brass manufacturers cant make brass fast enough for calibers that are common/popular. The odds of them gearing up to make some rare obsolete brass of which they might sell a few hundred a year of, isnt very high. the loaded ammo you can find will run in the $72 for 20 rounds and up from there. The only answer I could get was the same as you, they will make some.......eventually. If you can find any available for sale, buy it right quick. Price really isnt an option from what I could learn. There was a thread on a Forum somewhere that detailed a way to make .45-60 brass from a more easily found brass but right now, I cant recall what it was nor where I saw the information.

90% of my 45-60 brass started out as 45-70 brass. Cut it to the right length and you're set to go.

Oops, I must apologize for my error. I was looking at "76 Uberti chambered for the .45-75 NOT the .45-60. As noted, the .45-60 is easy enough to make from .45-70. Some slight difference in rim thickness but for most new made rifles, that doesnt appear to be much of an issue. The bottleneck case of the .45-75 is the different critter I was thinking of. Old age I think. A quick check of Midway and they now show Bertram .45-75 brass available to ship. There ya go.

What caliber DO YOU WANT . The 45-60 is easy to load for , basically a straight wall case .

In October I ordered 45-75 from Captech International by calling (605) 791-1974.  If I remember correctly it was 100 cases for $169 plus shipping.  I first called in September and they were out of stock.  I found if you just keep trying they will have some.

Captech bought Jamison and restarted production.

The brass is good quality and has the proper caliber stamped on the rim.

I have posted this recently in another spot here, but another source for the 1876 caliber brass is:

I purchased 100 rounds of .45-75WCF from these folks.  Very good looking brass produced on CNC machines as opposed to being extruded.  I can't answer yet as to how it will hold up as I have not had the chance for various reasons to test loads, but it fits like a glove in the rifle and the thinckness of the walls on the brass has to be seen to be appreciated.  The products are NOT cheap, but they are available.  The folks here didn't  have it on hand but produce as ordered.  From time I placed order until I got it was around 10 days.
