At yesterday's match I had an issue with my .45 1873. As I was levering it, at speed, the trigger got jammed behind the point on the lever. (You know, the point that will bite your finger if it's in the way.) This rifle has a 3rd generation SS kit, is tuned and I've used it for 2 years without a problem. Any ideas what can cause this? Bad spring, timing, etc?

Thanks,
CBG

Charles,

It appears that the sear may have jumped over the trigger spring instead of staying underneath it.
Perhaps the trigger spring needs to be replaced (?).

Howdy w44wcf,
Yes, the trigger might be the culprit. I have a friend of mine looking at it and am waiting to see what he thinks.

Lt., I saw that happen once to a pard of mine.  Strangest thing I ever did see.  He is a big, powerful fella, and the rifle was a borrowed one that he was not used to.  I think he over leveraged it.  I took it apart at the UL table, put it back together, and all was fine.

Yes, I was able to clear it at the ULT, but it happened again after 1 stage. We did find that it was a little out of time, fixed it, and it appears to be operating okay now. The thought of an over leverage did come to mind and I think something may be too worn down. I sent a message to the smith who built this rifle and am waiting on his response.
