Sewn .vs riveted loops, what is more common on period belts?

I think the sewn loops were more common than the riveted loops

I am, at this moment, fighting with some shotgun shell loops. I'll tell you, these things are a lot harder than they look. Trying to get six loops to fit into a given space and be centered and all be the same size and all the stitches be in a line and about six other things at the same time is a real challenge.
