Just picked up a Rossi 92 yesterday and I think some cool leather work is needed. So here's a chance to show off what you have made or seen for rifle leather work. Butt covers, saddle holsters/Scabbards etc. Give me some ideas please.

Thanks

I think one of the first projects for rifles and shotguns is going to be the rifle scabbard. In need of some inspireation before the leather is cut ;)

Thanks guys.. it's more for display than real world use. I'd be afraid to buckle it to a saddle. It would never hold up. I plan to make one that's actually useful when I get the time.

Lucky, I like that cover you made. That's also on my bucket list..   :)

The reason it's located there is the condition of the leather (Finished side, photo shows the inner side). Now if they could just make cows square that would be perfect for use ;)

I just hate cutting a large project right out of the middle of a side.... but sometimes ya gotta do it.

Now I've just picked up a side by side coach gun so I'm thinking make both at the same time so that they match, at least in desin and finish. Maybe pick up a new hide that will do both from the same leather. Save this hide for a different project.

OK going to try a couple of those rifle/shotgun stock leathers. The end stitching looks tricky if stitched back to back and then fitted, somewhere there will be 3 leather layers....

Put the three layers to the butt end. You can fill the space with heavy foam or a couple layers of leather.
