Anyone know how close the color on these is to the late 1880's-1890's blue trousers?

As seen in the image below these are the 1885 pattern "mid-blue" trousers.  My pair is the dark blue.

The dark blue trowsers (sic) without branch stripes down the sides would have been appropriate for staff officers in the 1880's.  The shoulder boards showing rank of the officer would have a black background.

Correct sir.  Hence, the reason I bought them in the first place.  I now have three pair, and these don't fit.

Thanks for the info, I was hoping they would pass under the "10 foot rule" for the 1885 enlisted trousers, which tend to be a bit more expensive than the more common Civil War colors. Guess I will keep wearing my equally incorrecrt sky blue....
