Here are some period pants in corduroy and wool...

Grenadier

Did you make these? I love those cords!

Skeeter Lewis

Thanks, Grenadier. Yes, I made them from the pattern sold by Laughing Moon Mercantile.

I've also made their Victorian work shirt.

Grenadier

Excellent work! I love corduroy trousers.

Bugscuffle

I like corduroy too, except in the snow, and then they really suck!

Very nice looking trousers. Where did you find the rivets, as I would like to make a pair for myself.

Skeeter Lewis

They're real rivets - hammered on my mini-anvil - and bought from Tandy Leather.
#12 rivets.....11282-01
Craftool setter....8110-01

If you haven't used real rivets before - don't worry: it's not as hard as you may think. Though with a name like Boilerplate you shouldn't need advice.....

Grenadier

I would love to own a pair of thoses jeans!

Hi,

Joanne of Laughing Moon is a member of our Old Sacramento Living History group. She used to have a Mercantile right in Old Sac and it was the place to go during breaks ... I miss her store and cheery positive presence ...I wish it was still open!

Joanne is much into the history of garments, and buying clothes made from her patterns is the same as buying antiques ,,,, only the fabric is new and doesn't split the way old fabrics do ...

My moniker is my great grandfather's name. He served with the 2nd Florida Mounted Regiment in the Civil War. Afterward, he came home, packed his wife into a wagon, and was one of the first NorteAmericanos on the Frio River southwest of San Antonio ..... Kinda where present day Dilley is ...
