Now I have a Liberty (first version) which I understand is the same gun as sold by CZ now at least the same Turkish company makes both. Now mine is the double hammer/trigger setup only with a 24" barrel instead of the usual coach length or  longer. Now my question is if someone has a manual or knows where I can get one for this gun first. Perhaps the CZ manual for their gun would also work. My second question is would it be ok to shoot a slug through this gun as it will take up to and including 3" rounds. I was also wondering about he chokes in it etc. Any information on it would be helpful as I really like the shot gun and have fired black and smokeless rounds through it just never tried a slug and recently got some 2 3/4" slugs. Thanks for any assistance.

It's best to shoot slugs with 'cly' or 'imp-cly' chokes.

The Liberty was sold by KBI, Inc of Charles Daly fame. They both closed their doors yers ago. KBI imported these shotguns but I believe they were Italian and Spanish manufacture at that time.

I have a 20" Liberty II.  There's a fair amount of confusion regarding the Liberty (made in Spain) and Liberty II (made in Turkey).  A lot of this is because the Liberty II just has "Liberty" stamped on the sides of the lock plates and barrels.  The only place the 'II" shows up is on the stars-n-stripes box.  The  Liberty II also says "Akkar" on the right side of the barrels, and "12 Ga. 3" on the left barrel.  I don't know how the Spanish Liberties are marked.  I have the owners manual and can tell you that there is not one thing of interest contained therein.  No specifications.  Just how to take barrel off and put back together, simple stuff.  The label on the box said the chokes are "Cyl & Cyl".

It's a very pretty gun.  Mine is basically a backup because my TTN, which I love, has more drop to the stock and points much better for me.

Ok I just examined the sides of the Barrel and mine says KBI but Turkey below that so assume that is where it is made. Mine was produced some where around 1976 as that was the only year I could find where they made a 24" barrel which mine is. It also doesn't have the II after Liberty either.

So is it safe to fire a slug from this or not anyone know?

Have you checked the barrel flats?  The chokes are almost always marked.  Sometimes they are in code with dots, stars asterisks etc.  It isn't rocket science.  Tale a caliper and measure the bores then look at a chart like this one. http://www.colonialarms.com/pdf-files/page7.pdf

Double barrel shotgun wrists are often quite thin.  I wouldn't shoot slugs out of a double even if it has three inch chambers.   There are better guns for shooting slugs.

Thank Pettifogger and I didn't check them but will. I had my doubts about it shooting slugs hence I asked much appreciated.
