Gary,
Towards the end of the run on Double Eagles, I ordered one in bright nickel through DJ's in Bothell, WA.  When it was delivered it had the Rodeo II style satin nickel finish with fire blue screws (you might remember this one).  As this finish was not typically offered on the Double Eagle, I was wondering just how many of them left the factory with the satin nickel finish.  I haven't seen, or heard, of another.

Also, what truth is there to the persistent rumor that USFA sold off all or part of the CNC machinery used to produce the SAA's?

Thanks in Advance,
CJF

If you got a DE with a satin finish, that's the only one that I know of.  There were Storekeepers (Standard grip & hammer) done in the  satin nickle.   Yes the machines no longer exist though there is talk of reviving the line about 2 years down the road.   My bet that if it is revived, parts will be outsourced to US machine shops.  I believe there are parts available for repairs and a limited # of frames for a run of limited # of guns.

Well, it turns out there are more satin nickel finished Double Eagles out there!  Just ran across this one on GunBroker.com.

So much for "one of a kind."

I was already wrong once today and now twice.  Just goes to show you what the aging process is capable of.

Gary,
I know what you mean!  Glad to see you are still with us.

Unbelievable.  A 1200 dollar gun for over 2 grand.  I mentioned on another thread that some folks with NIB guns were asking stupid money.  And there are some of P.T. Barnums' folks out there willing to pay stupid money. :o

I agree. Its just plain illogical and stupid. I could get five revolvers for that price.

Capt. John Fitzgerald

Personally, I feel perfectly content seeing people pay ridiculous prices for guns that I already own.  ;D

USFA turned out some of the finest SAA's ever produced.  In all likelihood, you are never going to see any more made.
