Anybody know of an available mid-range vernier for the Uberti '76? I talked to Buffalo Arms and they said they knew of nothing. Does look like Uberti makes one but I've been unable to find one anywhere. My dinky little Marble's hasn't got near enough elevation. Cheers.

Get another stem for your Marbles, they make three or four lengths

Howdy Wyldwylliam I think I may have a couple of them Uberti venier sights off of a sharps . Will dig em out and measure the screw mounting holes,Think I have two in Long range and a mid range . May take me a day or two. Am off running the road's from ranch to ranch........Dusty.

Thanks Rooster, but I think I'd like to go with something of a better quality and easier to adjust for elevation. If I can't find anything else, might go that route though.

Dusty, that's very kind of you. I'll hang on and wait to see if you manage to find something that'll work. Sure sounds like you've got a good job.

Howdy Wyldwylliam ,here are the Itallian made sight's that I have. The mounting holes are 1-1/2" apart  Have a mid range and 3 long range stem's Have had them about 12 yrs. They seem to work OK. and are in good condition. If you think you can use them give me a holler ........Dusty.

Dusty, that was mighty fine of you to look them up, I really appreciate that, but unfortunately, they will not work on my gun.

Interestingly, the Marbles tang I bought was for the original '76 and '86 and it fits my Uberti just fine, whereas the chart calls for a different sight number. The spacing on my gun/sight is 2.185"

Guess this might or might not help me in my search for a good mid-range.

Anyhow, sure wish this sight and staffs from you woulda worked, especially now that you went to the trouble of looking for them, so, again, muchas gracias and a tip of the sombrero.

Cheers.

Howdy Wyldwylliam ,was no trouble ,if a Winchester sight will fit ,you can find original tang sight's on E-bay every so often. Expect to pay around 6 to 8 hundred US . Good luck  .......Dusty.

Thanks for the tip Dusty, but try this on for size. Ebay will not allow sights or ANY gun parts to ship up here to Canada. :o

How's that for just plain nuts?

However, it does open things up a bit more. Shall keep my eyes open up here for the Canadian sellers.

Cheers.

Wyldwylliam have you had any luck on the tang sight. Just checking on you. Let me know how it's going. ...Dusty Texian.

Hey Bud, thanks a lot for checking up.

I think I have a way of doing it with stuff MVA has, by using the base they sell for the '86.

However, I just got in a Marbles full buckhorn and one of their Bullseye barrel sights. My poke just got a fair bit lighter thanks to circumstances beyond my control ;D, so I'm going to mount these guys and see if I can get by with one of them for the time being.

But, when things look up a bit more I think I'll go with the MVA mid range set up. From all indications, they make good stuff, if a bit pricey. Would be really nice to get the right sights on my artillery to see what it can do out there at 500.

Cheers.

You might want to check with Lee Shaver.  He used to sell an Italian made mid and long range sight he modified.   I believe he now makes and sells his own version of the sight.

He is an excellent gunsmith and long range shooter.

wyldwylliam,
My Uberti 1876 has the same hole spacing as the original Winchesters. You might check your hole spacing and if it is the same then you can use a sight made for the original. However, I personally would not use one for the 1886 since the base of upright us so far to the rear that there is no space for your thumb to wrap around the stock. If you use one for the 1885 the base is further forward and that leaves room for the thumb. The bolt on the 1876 does not come back as far as the 1886 so using the sight for the 1885 still gives you plenty of clearance from the bolt to the sight upright. Hope this helps.
