Seeking to benefit from the collected wisdom.

I have a brass framed 1851 Colt clone. It is .36 cal.
It has the faint Naval scene on the cylinder, along with PATENT N.
matching serial numbers, 33,xxx

On the octagon barrel on the left side on lower flat is BLACK POWDER ONLY
on right side, middle flat, CAL. 36 NAVY MODEL- MADE IN ITALY
on bottom flat under loading lever, COM

on frame on right side, barrel on right side and cylinder AC in a box, PN with a wreath or circle and a star inside[ I think, need better magnifying glass,..and eyes!],  a shield with that same star inside wreath/ circle above it. Inside the shield appears to be another shield and crossed rifle and fishing pole?

It seems to except Pietta parts. The cylinder was dragging on the barrel, the hammer nose, with the rear sight was below the top of the barrel when cocked.

I have had this thing for a couple years. I bought it at a gun show for cheap. I would like to get some nipples for it. The Tresso/ Ampco nipples for a Pietta are too long. Actually the entire Tresso nipple is shorter but the collar and cone part, everything above the threads is longer.

Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

AC is the date code for 1977 manufacture.  COM is one of the Italian makers that has yet to be positively identified; but is believed to be Contrini Officine Meccaniche di Contrini Giovanni, Gardone VT, via XXIV aprile.  Translates in part to "Contrini Mechanical Workshops of John Contrini" He's also a registered gunsmith on the list of Gunsmith's in Italy 1945-1980.

There are two different nipples that work in Piettas.  If the ones you have are too long (.520 OA length), you might try the short versions (.500 OA length)  Possible shop has them under:

M6 x .75 x .500 Long
Fits Euroarms Revolver - (6 Per Package)  11-50-146  $31.95

These also work on some of the older Uberti revolvers (made before about 1975)

Fingers,
My hat's off to you. Any time I get to thinking I know a lot of "stuff" about perCUSSIN' revolvers I read one of your posts like the above one and just shake my head in awe and admiration.

When I first read JEBs post I said to myself, "Never heard of it" but I wanted to learn something so I clicked "notify". Well, I indeed did learn something. (Please no test on Monday! I have CRS)

Thanks Fingers!

I looked at the list of nipples and was intrigued. The original nipples to this revolver measure .484 which is closer to what they have listed for the .31, but the thread size is wrong.

I knew the 1977 date, and from searching other boards I had Gardone-VT, but all that led me to was a Beretta.

Might want to be carefull about the Possibles Shop, my AVG just detected a possible virus in the CAS/Percussion Revolver page.
