i been looking at all the 45 long colt bullets and would like a good round to try on hogs. from my tree stand i can get a close shot or a long one. the hogs will get within 20 yards and some of the ones that an't been around when others got shot will get a little closer. i haven't shot my new saa yet but soon as deer season closes and we get all our perscribed burning done i am going to start practicing with the new side arm. i was looking at the hornady 225 the ones with the red tip, i think they are the ftx. the reviews say they work good on black bears ,lots of knock down power. will the saa 3 gen. with the 7.5 barrel handle all the 45lc ammo or are there some i don't need to shoot in it.

Shotgun Franklin

Almost any big heavy bullet will kill a hog. Avoid any ammo shown to be +P. You really don't need it to kill a hog at closer ranges. The only failure I've ever had shooting game with a .45 Colt was when I tried a hollow point.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

Drydock

For hogs, you need penetration, and nothing punches thru hide and bone like the old classic small meplat 255 RF.  Lyman mould 454190.  Drive it at black powder velocitys (around 950 fps from a 7.5" barrel) and its all you could ever want at open sight SAA ranges.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .
