One of the most often needed repairs on the 1876 is a broken, worn, or missing rim support tab on the boltface. The repair is fairly simple if you have access to the proper equipment. And I realize that most folks don't have the tools or experience to do the repair properly.

While I have no intention of coming out of retirement, I can help a limited number of forum members with this repair at a very reasonable cost. PM me if you need help with this repair.

That short narrow extension on the bottom of the breech bolt is the ejector and yes, if they are either missing or show excessive wear, the gun won't eject the spend cartridge.  Your offer to repair of this type will be much appreciated by several.
