Here is a recent order request. The customer had some specific ideas he wanted and I managed to put them together in what looks like an early Texas Jock strap holster.

It's a high crossdraw for conceal carry of an old model flat top blackhawk under a jacket and the holster is removable from the skirt so he can tuck the gun and holster away in the car if he goes in one of those silly gun free zones.

I had the customer do a little modeling for me with his new holster and belt and here are some pics.

One of the neatest concealment type Old West holsters I ever heard of was that used by Marshal Dallas Stoudenmire in El Paso. He had a custom vest with two inside pockets big enough for two handguns. I've never seen a reproduction, don't know if anyone knows exactly what it looked like. Anyway when I was a Special Agent I wanted one but never got it.

I'm going to make one for myself, I had a prototype made up of some junk leather and wore it around for a day with just a light jacket over it and it was very comfortable and concealed for a gun of that size.

I might make that one of my standard offers.

Howdy Cliff,

Excellent design and workmanship! Many thanks for sharing it with us.

Great design, Cliff. It looks like it rides close to the body. Nice work.

Like Will said, great idea, and the perfect way to carry a single action, in a cross draw, at least that's the way I like to mine on a pant belt, I really like your design, it is very well thought out and executed, and just looks fantastic.....

Thanks fellas. Yes it tucks in real close. He had about three different holster pictures of designs he liked and I combined the features and some old west styling and that's the way it turned out.

I was a little uncertain if I even wanted the job at first but he is a friend of a friend and I kinda got stuck trying to make something work and it just turned out better than I would have thought.

Hey, I am late to this party, but that is a nice piece of work!  You have something new there, as you know, but the functionality jumps out.

Cliff - you did a beautiful job on that!  I like the design of it as well . . . you may have run across something that would be more popular than you think!  From the look of it, that jockstrap design of yours would also allow for interchanging holsters (buckets) for different barrel lengths as well.  I'll bet the customer is tickled pink with it!  Thanks for sharing!

Cliff,
Did you make the belt also? With the brass work on the belt it matches the holster very well. Great looks and function, with the snap holding the holster in place neat idea.
