The Rossi/Puma 92 lever gun

I just bought an older Rossi 92 in 38/357 caliber. This rifle is a low serial number rifle and was made before the now required (ugly) modern safties. This rifle came before the Puma and there is no "cat" logo on it. This is a true Winchester 92 clone with  20" bbl, and saddle ring.  The safety is the traditional Winchester 1/2 cock. I will be using this as my main match gun and retire my 94.

My question is if somthing breaks where can I find parts? Is there an E-Mail address where I can find out the actual age of this rifle? Any clues would be appreciated, I've struck out on my web searches thus far. I may not be asking the computer the right questions. :o
Cousin we been ashooten at each other all day! How about we stop for a beer then we kin go home and get our axes. Or just as good, lets forget this whole dang feud, I'm agetten too old for this anyhow!

There ya' go; Rio's got ya' lined out.  I hope you have as much good luck with your gun as I have had with mine; been using it for many years, and only broke the tip off of the firing pin, after about ten hard years of regular CAS use.

Excellent prices, cheaper than others ... very quick turn-around.

I also have one of the puma 92's only problem is like the other post I had a firing pin break paid more for the work 50 bucks than the pin 30 bucks, Oh well such is expected with the stress CAS firearms get.  I did find an excellent spring kit Brownells sells for Lee Gunsmithing it has really reduces lever tension and has made this rifle  super slick shooter the kit was about 25 bucks and bout 50 to have it installed by my gunsmith.

If thats a real early one, don't go gonzo with the loads if you use it for hunting as well. It may be ok, but we had a lot of trouble with them in the early 80s. I have two one new 44mag and a 357 that I don't know how old it is, it has the removavble mag tube and loading port, al la 22lr rifle style (it's the one in my avitar). Mick.

I really prefer big bores, but this is ne sweet little rifle  ;D
All my cowboy gun's calibres start with a 4! It's gotta be big bore and whomp some!

Jubel.  I also have the same gun you mention.  My serial # is around 103,000 +/-.  The maurader site is excellent but also hit leverguns.com for background info.  I've slicked up my 92 w/ anything I could research on.  I know you didn't ask but if you want any help doing a job you can PM me.  The main thing you need to be concerned about is the heavy overpowed stock hammer spring unless it's been replaced or cut down.  A lot of dry firing could bend your firing pin with the stock spring.  I've had every screw out of my 92 to clean it when it fell in some very fine blow sand with the action open - so I can help you put it back together if needed.

I tried to field strip my rossi 92 last night and I cant get it back together.
I tried to follow this http://www.leverguns.com/articles/taylor/field_strip.htm but after I pulled the bolt pin the lever fell out and I cant get it back together.
I just got this gun, never shot it yet, didnt even pay for it yet so Im gettin worried.
Can aneyone please help me get this in one piece.
thanks, Tom
