Evening All.

I am shooting a Schofield 44-40 made by Uberti.  I have noticed a slight rock or side to side motion when I am loading and the barrel is facing down.  Is this normal for this pistol or should I try tighting the hinge point?  I do not wish to screw the gun up as it is a nice shooting pistol, so I am asking for advice from those of you who are more knowledgeable.  Thanks in advance.

Generally speaking, the play you describe is caused by looseness/poor fitting in the hinge of a top break revolver.  I would see if the hinge screw is a bit loose, and tighten it up.  It is possible it has loosened with shooting and opening the action.

After how many shots did this start to happen? Or was it since day one?
Did you check the hinge screws?

Thumbs,

As I bought this pistol used it has been since day one, so far with the posts I have received tighting is in order.
