I had a RM front sight that I installed on my rifle . When the WIND quits blowing will get out to shoot my rifle . If it shoots as good as it looks , I will be a happy camper . My rifle is a 45-60 and haven't shot it lately . Maybe the wind will lay tomorrow and I can get out and shoot a few rounds .

For what it is worth, I decided that my 75 year old eyes were not seeing my front sight on my 45-75 like they should have so I BROKE tradition and put on a Fibre Optic front sight that I got from Brownells and Lordy, Lordy, it helped.  Just figgured that you might be interested in knowing that there are new modern sights that work too.

Larryo,

Better to put a modern sight on the 76 than not be able to shoot it, good idea.

Thanks.  That was what I did and I have no regrets as it helps me play with my toy more now.  For me---anyway---it was worth the few bucks that it cost me.

I can't see open iron at all anymore. I'm slowly switching all my rifles to peeps. sure makes a difference.

The front sight is brass . And the brass stands out for my eye's . I installed a 3 power scope on my 1873 short rifle trying to think about the future when I can't use the iron sights . As for using the fiber optics front sight GREAT ideal .

I see copper front blades the best, but the peeps are even better. Scopes are a good idea, I have an unertl 8X I'm putting on my CPA Stevens in 38-55 if I ever get it up and running.
By the waay, I can still see fiber optics. I just can't bring myself to put them on an old timey style gun yet. I sure don't blame anybody else for using them though. losing your ability to see your sights sucks.
