Olde  Eynsford is the name of the new powder . This powder is to be as clean as Swiss . I can't wait to try a pound .

Anyone planning on trying a pound ? As far as cost I don't have a clue .

First thing that will have to happen is the stuff actually hit the market.... We've been promised this new powder for about 18 months now with no joy...
Swiss has a new powder that is not currently available on the open market. Yet there are shooters that were given some of the powder to test and provide feed back.
Do you know of ANYbody anywhere that has actually seen this mysterious new powder from Goex? Let alone shot any of it? When Goex brought out Express they had variety's of it out to shooters a year in advance of the release ...

That's sure a snappy name. Wonder what marketing genius thought it up?

Chris hodgdon told me they won't have any available until late January. He'll send me a test sample then.

Mike, sure hope in addition to just shooting it you also test it for density, sieve ratios and percent of foul with an indication of the size of the unburned charcoal.  Plus a picture of the grains as an indication whether or not their polishing time was increased.

The price is posted on Powder Inc. web sight . It aint cheap . And until someone gets there hands on a pound that's all I know .

Ranch 13

16.50$ a lb in case lots isn't bad. That's cheaper than Express was when they quit it.
Without them ever having made this Eynsford powder yet, my money is on if it's cleaner than express, it's relabled KIK. If it's as hot as swiss it's express sieved with the european sized sieves so the powder kernels are smaller than what we're used to seeing from Goex.

Don, to keep Minden 'honest'  ;D

Swiss Standard Grain Ratios
1.5Fg (No. 4).........0.9 - 1.36 mm 0.035 – 0.054"
2Fg (No. 3)............0.67 - 1.36 mm 0.026 – 0.054" ... just in case Minden decides to make FFg and label it 1 1/2

John I've got a standing order for the first 5lbs of 1.5 that comes in.... We'll see what's what , if and when the box arrives..

Don, when the powder comes, let me know if the grains are shiny or dull frosted gray.  For starters, if shiny, will be an indication that Goes really has improved their processing for this powder or it's Express in a different suit of clothes

John I'm betting if it's a Goex powder it's probably going to be Express sized the same as Swiss. As I don't think they would change any formula's without ever even testing the stuff.
Will give it a good test, tho as I have express, cartridge and regular, along with KIK and Schuetzen to run it against if necessary, but I'm thinking we'll know zactly what it is by the time the first 5 rnds have gone down range.

Don, can you make it 10 rounds - two 5 shot groups with your chronograph?

Here's a couple of old Express loading data for comparison:

John I've got plenty of Express data around here both patched and naked bullets in the 45-70 using 2 and 3f, and some in the 40-65 with 3f. Will know in a heartbeat in the 44-77 if this new powder is going to be anygood or not.
Accuracy will tell the tale, followed by bore fouling and chronograph readings.
But it doesn't sound like there'll be any of this powder until February , maybe.... They still haven't as of Monday even started to make it.

;D Good question Cliff... They've been telling us for 2 years this new powder is coming.... ::) They keep dinkin around and miss another shooting season, they're just going to make it that much harder to claim much of the market share.
