Two Flints

Hello SSS,

Thought I'd post this FOR SALE Spencer ad from JoeSalter.Com aka DownEastAntiques.com.  Here is the description as posted there:

Serial #38727, .50 RF, 22" barrel with a very good, bright, three-groove bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves. This is a Stabler cut-off equipped carbine that has an overall pewter gray patina with darkly mottled freckling along the barrel and also on the other metal components. Additionally, there are spots of mild pitting at the muzzle as well as along some of the edges of the frame and lever. The walnut forend and "ESA" inspected buttstock have been nicely refinished at some point and have scattered minor handling marks and blemishes throughout, although the cartouche on the left side of the butt is still quite clear. The magazine tube is in very good shape with a functional spring and follower and the mechanism is tight and functions flawlessly, although the rear sight spring is broken and the leaf cannot be raised. Nevertheless, this is a very good Spencer overall and has a fine and attractive "Wild West" look. Antique

Go to JoeSalter.com, click on NEW ARRIVALS, and scroll down to the Spencer Carbine as listed which is # 21717 to see photos of the Spencer Carbine.
