Thought maybe some of you black powder guys would like to see a matchlock i built a few years ago.
It has a GM 54 cal. barrel the rest i built myself, nothing real fancy but it gets the job done.
I took it deer hunting one year, sat in a stand with the match burning and hanging on a nail beside me for about half hour when half dozen does came out on the field at 100 yards.
I put the match in the serpentine and took aim at one of the does and slowly lowered the match into the pan and fired. Made a good hit and she ran into the woods. I did a reload , and with match and ram rod in one hand and rifle in the other went to find her. She went about 60 yards and piled up, ball went completely through the ribs.
Was a highlight of my life.
The action is of my own design and has a auto opening pan cover, which also serves as a eye protector when firing and makes for a very accurate shooting gun as you don`t know when the match hits the powder so ya can`t flinch.
Hope ya like it.
