My wife needs the butt stock on her Stoeger 20 ga 'Uplander' shortened.

Should the length of pull be measured from the front or the rear trigger?

The length of pull shoud be measured from/to wherever it is most comfortable for her to shoot. If you can find one, maybe at an upscale gun shop or maybe at a Cabellas that sells custom guns, have her "fitted" by using a try gun. They are adjustable for LOP drop, cast, etc.

It should be measured from the front trigger PJ. WM

P J,

You may want to measure your wife's LOP. And compare that measurement to the LOP on the arm.
Shot gun stock LOP is usually a little longer than other shoulder arm stocks.
It may just take some practice for her to get use to it.

Length of Pull and angle at the toe are different for this game as opposed to normal shot gunning.  Have your sweetebend her arm at the elbow to 90 degrees.  Measure from the inside of the arm to the front trigger minus the thickness of your finger.  That will be your length of pull.  You also want to cut the stock with about 5 degrees negative pitch.  It should angle forward at the toe rather than to the rear.

Normally, a light 20 in a coach gun will beat you to death with most factory ammo.  Look into "Fiocchi" "Trainer" ammo.  Nice and light.

My wife isn't bothered by the recoil of factory 7/8 oz. 20 ga loads. She's shot hundreds of the 12 ga equivalent. Before that, she shot factory 1 oz. loads in her '97 without a whimper. She got away from the '97 as the forestock was an uncomfortable reach for her.

It wasn't until the weather got cold and she had to wear a coat that she found the LOP of the Stoeger 'Uplander' a problem.
