Need for speed rig

Looks very much like the last few inserts I have done for revolvers.  My inserts will generally rise out from the throat and stop at the fold, while the skirt simply follows those contours from the back.  This will not allow some of the big open belt loops as done by some current makers BUT it does more closely copy how the earlier fast draw makers done it.   I am working from a sheet of 24ga stainless but will try to get a heavier ga when it is gone.  I am allowing a lot of gun freedom now but when the metal was dropped into the holster and allowed to partially wrap the cylinder, it allows easily made tension adjustments.  Some guys are really athletic in the running dept and want tighter fits!

Lordy Deuce, sounds like you could hide behind a telephone pole. Mere shadow of yourself.

Did you mean to put up some pictures?

This ol' gimpy guy never had any problems with losing a gun but I did see Red River Ray come to a halt after a 15 yard run and the right revolver was at a right angle with about 3" of barrel holding it in the holster. NE Regional Mason Dixon Stampede. The scary thing, just after him, Twin did the same thing. And weird enough, they popped back in and they never knew it. I believe I was the only one to see RRR's problem but a few saw Twin's problem. The photographer caught it on disc and showed us afterwards.

The speed holster does not have to have the revolver half naked. The cylinder can be buried but the full grip and trigger guard must/should be exposed. As I have stated, the front should be cut down generously, and the holster ( my preference ) holds the grips at an angle out from the body.  Generally this will happen when they are worn in front of the hipbone.

Really looking forward to this.

Nice design, see you like them high on the belt also.  For me the barl would be a deal  killer, though I like the look, I always manage to snag them sights.

Bob the rig is build to my specs and since I always like the look of a little bit of the barrel peeking out it's built just right to obtain that look without hooking any sight. With less than a second between my 5th. and 6th. shot gun to gun it's not slowing me down  ;D

Boothill Bob,

I finally got the two "speed holsters" done.  The client wanted the Frank James motiff so I modified the design and incorporated it into the speed holsters...I must say they look pretty good with that design.  they are shown on a Ben Wade style belt since that is what the client already has.

Outrider, ,those very nice. Beauty and function. Just a thought on steel/kydex liners. It all really depends on the shooter. What may last a lifetime for one shooter may only last a year for me. My holsters are worn everyday and drawn from  thousands of times. I have a graveyard  of rigs from a variety of good makers to prove it. Kydex and steel liners get me twice the amount of use from a rig.

Boothill Bob

Deuce. I like your rig, will try to make one like that some time.. :)
