Doug's books are a great source of information on the Army's uniforms and equipment. I haven't read the book by Emerson, but will probably pick up a copy for my library.  :)

Having purchased the two volume set last year, I did find 3 books in the under $15 each range I could not live without.

Thanks so much for letting us know about this years sale.  One was the "War in the Pacific" for less than $4.  At that price probably worth the money just for starting fires.

I'm reading McChristain's first volume.  It's not a page turner like a Tom Clancy novel, but it's well written and the details make it interesting.  The various quartermaster general's had to deal with Bill Sherman, who didn't want to change from the Civil War, and the men who wanted to be comfortable.
