I broke the extractor on my 1974 era Navy Arms 1866 Yellowboy.  The bolt is 2.454 inches long. The gents at VTI said there may be an issue getting a new extrator for this bolt, since it is so old, and the "newer" bolts are ~2.445 inches long.  The "newer" extractor supposed to be a bit shorter also. I have been shooting this gun for almiost 40 years and really need to get it fixed.  Any one know where I can get the correct parts I would appreciate it!!!!

Your dimensions are wrong.  (2.454 vs 2.445 is only .009" different.  There should be more like .100 difference.)  The new bolts are longer than the old ones.  The really old ones had a shorter carrier and bolt. There are no replacement parts for the old short carrier Ubertis.  You can go here, it explains the differences in the carrier lengths.  You will have to have a good gunsmith make one or modify one of the newer extractors.

Pettifogger,
Thanks for the info and the link to the document.  It is very helpful.  Looks like my next step is a good gunsmith.
Have a Merry Christmas my friend!
