Please Move if Necessary

Hi pards , I have a newly developed problem with my 12 ga. coach gun side by side
I am shooting the same Federal 12 ga. Top Gun shells ( both new and reloads ) but having a real snag.
The gun is almost impossible to break open after firing. The huls still slip out as slick as always. But the action has to be broken over the knee with a lot of force. times it does open it will only go about 3/4 of the way.
What is this old foof doing or what may I be able to do to fix??

Appreciate the good advice.

Generally that would be a firing pin problem. Has anything changed with the hammers and/or firing pin?

Never thought to ck the strikes ill have a look
This feels like the actin is stuck and will not  open. without a lot of force
I've tried spraying it with good lube but has not helped.

The firing pins on the Stoeger are relatively soft and over time (and use) they deform somewhat and cause the problem you are encountering.  Long Hunter Supply (see the SASS publication the Cowboy Chronicle for their ads) has hardened firing pins which will solve the problem.  Any competent gunsmith can do the installation.  Had the exact same problem with my wife's gun and the firing pins solved it.

Thanks all for your replies . Will work through them .
