Big Ed, of San Pedro Saddlery is in the hospital due to an infection that won't heal.
He wasn't responding to the treatment, so had to be admited.
They could keep an eye on it with a drip. He should be getting out
in a couple days. We will see.

Will post more info as I get it.

Prayers for a speedy recovery are deeply coveted.

UPDATE

Just got off the phone with Ed. He is in Sierra Vista Regional Health Center in Sierra Vista, Az.

It seems that several years ago he was bit by a rattler. The buzztail hung one fang in his leg & did not inject venom. But the hospital at that time debreeded the wound area and gave him half a vial of antivenom. Now there is scar tissue there & Ed is a diabetic & it is attacking the scar tissue & he did not respond to antibiotics at home so the doc admitted him & they giving him massive doses of antibiotic IV. He said they are talking about doing a MRI tomorrow to see if the need to open up his leg & remove the infected tissue.

Ha asked me to thank all his SASS pards for their prayers. Sooooo, Thank you pards from Big Ed & Rose of San Pedro!

We wish Big Ed the very best and hope he has a speedy recovery. Home with family and friends beats any hospital known and is heap powerful medicine.

How long ago did he get bit? I always knew them rattle-bugs could do wierd stuff to ya, but this is the first i've ever heard of this.

Me too Rio. Miss Rose said it was about 20 yrs ago that he got bit. Even if they don't inject venom they can cause trouble.

Yeah, well the snake died from it anyway.....

Talked to Ed and Miss Rose today, he's doing OK and they will be sending him home tomorrow probably with warnings to keep the mess under observation and see what happens. He's too big for the MRI scan, so that's about all they can do.

Dang, they have open MRIs in this area, so his size wouldn't matter.

Howdy Pards!
They let me out last night!!!! YEEHAW!!!!!

I want to thank all of you for all the prayers and support! I know I wouldn't have
faired as well as I did without them! I'm dooin all I can to keep from Bawlin afeter reading all your Prayers and good thoughts! This has to be some sort of a record for the longest affect from a Rattler bite! That varmint bit me almost thirty years ago!!! Problem is that now that i'm diabetic it wants to go after the scar tissue that it left there! now I ain't gonna tell ya exactley where that snake bit me me but!,,,,,,,,,, I will tell ya that I was sittin on that booger when he bit me! LOL!!!!
They are going to try me on an oral antibiotic "Augmenten" at home and see if that
does the trick, if not then they may put me on an outpatient IV program that will
have me going in for an hour each morning the get the IV drip and see if that works! I'm hopin that I don't have to go back to the Hospital!! I sure don't like it there!! I can't smoke my Ceegars and the nurse gives me an evil eye when I ask her for a "Spit Cup" LOL!!! All I can say is it's great to be back at home and in the shop! I gotta alot of work ta do! Them Hospital bills are,,, UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

I'm sure you're glad to be out of that there "horsepistol", Ed, and hope this protocol works on that sore spot. Dadgummed Diabetes - more trouble than it's worth.

I found it somewhat amusing, though, to find that you too, were the unwitting victim of a "sitting accident". Your "buzzwinder", Marshal'ette's nasty brown spider, who knows what other sorts of "sitting accidents" could be storied about? I sat on a cholla cactus one time, and purt'near wrecked a whole job before they got me weighted down to get the needles out of me; dang, that foreman was mad.
