Here's my new pair of '60 Piettas!!!  Can't wait to get them dirty!!!

Fredcdobbs

Just got this pair. Put a nice U notch rear sight. Reshaped the end of the rammer, put in a wire bolt/hammer spring. Smoothed the internal parts. Refinished the grips in oil. Tresco nips with choke tube release lube.
Picture was shot with a Sony Camera on Toy Creative mode. It mimics plastic lens kids cameras. I like the effect for old guns.

Major 2

The color is very cool effect, looks like the blue on my Orig.
when planets align...do the deal !

It does look like the Uberti Charcoal blue finish, doesn't it?

Wow.  Those are beautiful.

I don't know what it is about the design of the Colt open top revolver, but it's got to be the sexiest gun ever made.  The lines are perfect; every model is a true work of art.

I think the epitome of the design is the 1861 Navy.  Just a drop-dead gorgeous bombshell of a gun!
I like the design so much I have a 62 Police 5.5 coming Friday. The picture of three of em will look like the "Incredible Shrinking Pistol"

I need to get brave enough to tear into mine and do the same, internally!  Where's the best place to get the Tresco's??

Fredcdobbs

I got them from the Possibles Shop and he's been great to deal with but the nipples I got had ragged thread ends making them almost impossible to screw in. I had to take each one and dress down the threads with a swiss needle file.
I have since ordered Slix Shot nipples. They come perfect. I got them from Desperado Bullet Supply. Cost is virtually the same and in my brief experience, so is performance although people have their preferences. You pays yer money...

Thanks for the link , Fred!!!
You bet. Tomorrow I grind open my nipple access on a 1858 and will install some Slix shot as a part of tuning up my new 36 Navy.

OKay, I lied. I took a close look at the shrouded nips 1861 Colt and decided to buy a straight line capper instead. they just need a different treatment  with some direct filing. I don't want to do it so I will chicken out.
I figure the 62 Police coming tomorrow will need a straight line capper anyway so why mess with the gun.
I just got a Rem 58 36 Navy which is just a Rem 58 with a smaller hole in the barrel. (Heavier too) So I did the rotary Dremel thing on the Navy cylinder. Worked great. What I won't do for fun. j

StrawHat

Here is a pair of Richards conversions as built by ASM.  Two different importer's and subtle differences between the two revolvers.  Both chambered for the 44 Colt.
