The Remington double barreled Derringer is one of the most recognizable handguns of the old west. In this video I compare an original Remington Derringer to a 20th century copy, and then do some shooting with the replica using black powder cartridges.

Did you add the front sight to your imported model? It looks like a S&W front blade.

No. That sight is integral...machined out of the barrel stock.

Or a fantastic farkle! I will check it out later, gotta rush. We are only allowed to own cap and ball ones here, which is a shame. The classic Remington style one is what I always remember from cowboy movies as a kid.

I have the cobra repro you mentioned in .38 spl, rosewood grips and satin finish. I like it, but like you said, don't be too many ft. away and expect to hit much, lol!

These and little pistols were called 'tit' guns in Australia, as ladies of the night would hide them in their cleavage! Across a card tabel or stuck in the ear of a 'lady's' non paying rough customer, they would be plenty accurate.

I read somewhere (Elmer Keith???) that often the boolits were removed and the lube replaced with Horse poop. An even minor wound or scratch would then ensure a long, lingering painful death from Tetnaus, so when a Derringer was pulled, you generally cleared the bar.
